Christmas Climbing in the Peaks
Santa Returns to the Peaks!
Stanage @ The Peaks
We shall be right near Stanage, which is suitable for all levels of experience and ability, whether you want to boulder or trad, there’s a massive range. There is also some sport at Stoney Middleton if trad isn’t your thing.
The crag is walkable distance for those with energy.
Accommodation
We are returning to Thorpe Farm, this time back at the Old Shippon (for those weathered members you may remember this barn from 2 years ago).
The farm has a collection of large converted barns and is near Hathersage. The Bunkhouse is big enough for 32 and can seat 32 for our Saturday Christmas dinner! There is also a sizable kitchen and dryer for wet kit!
Parking is tight to please car share as much as possible. There are mattresses with a cover on and you also get a pillow with a pillowcase, but you need to bring a duvet or sleeping bag. It can get quite cold at night – so you may want to bring extra blankets.

Christmas Dinner and Secret Santa
As is the SCC tradition we shall have a Christmas dinner on the Saturday. The food for this dinner is included in the meet and helpers are always appreciated.
We shall also be having our annual secret santa. To take part just bring a present to add to santas sack (£5).
Environmental Considerations
It will be cold! very cold! bring warm stuff and lots of positive enthusiasm. However, on a more serious note cold fingers are no excuse for leaving rubbish, so please as always, be considerate of the crag and surrounding area.
What to Bring
Warm things! Do remember waterproofs and your best christmas jumper. I also recommend fingerless gloves for climbing.
