SCC is proud to present training with Johnny Dawes, one of the legends of British climbing, famous for his bold trad routes and excellent movement on rock. Probably the most famous of his first ascents is the Indian face, the first ever E9.
This short film showcases his incredible movement on rock. Look mum, no hands!
As ever, the SCC will subsidise your training so if you want to learn to dance on rock like Johnny, it will only cost you £30. Anyone can sign up, there is no minimum skill level for this coaching session, just buckets of enthusiasm!
And if that isn’t enough then watch Johnny climb one of Lundy‘s classics and then see if you can repeat his beta on the club trip.
In Johnny’s own words:
There is no limit to the level of skill. I just love coaching anyone since people’s potential is far in excess of what they think. Really looking forward to this!
Leave watches behind and bring your A game (or B if that’s your thing))!
This coaching session coincides with the Peak District meet so you can head over to the booking page if you want to camp with the club. The exact meeting place for the coaching session will be published closer to the time. The current proposal is to meet at Hooks Carr car park and head to Stanage Popular end as that’s where Johnny has some good problems for people to play on, but this may change. We will keep you informed via the event page both here and on Facebook.
What to bring:
- Climbing shoes
- a rag to clean your feet
- a rag to stand on – this is really imporant to keep the rock pristine!
