About:
Summer is slowly coming and that means one thing… Cornwall!!! One of the most beautiful places in the UK best known for it’s sandy beaches, super surf and tasty top class pasties… and it just so happens to have some of the most amazing climbing too! If we’re lucky, La Frowda festival may also be running on the second weekend too!
Although it is planned for a week away, many people may not be able to stay for the whole week due to other commitments and go for a shorter time. So do not worry if you can only come for some of it!
The Crags:
To put it simply, it’s absolutely gorgeous granite! There’s a wide range of grades, both overlooking the sea and further inland. We are spoilt for choice in the area, for all levels of experience and skill. If you would like to have a look at the range of climbing available, please take a look at the UKC website: https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crag.php?id=667#maps
The Club library has a small selection of Guidebooks available for loan here: https://southamptonclimbingclub.org/club-gear/scc-equipment/
Accommodation:
Traditionally we have stayed at Trevaylor campsite near the coast and just outside the beautiful, small town of St Just and this is where we aim to be again! Due to group booking restrictions this year, there are no bookings organised by the club so you will be responsible for booking your own accommodation. Camping availability this year may be more popular than usual due to the pandemic and restrictions on holidays so a range of different campsites have been suggested…

Being Mindful
For those new to outdoor climbing – We are given access to many crags by land owners, and are expected to treat the land with respect. Please be mindful of any litter (you will see many of us picking up and taking litter home, to help keep the area clear). There are no toilets once we are at the crag so please be prepared for this.
