Cornwall! One of the most beautiful places in the UK best known for sandy beaches, super surf and tasty top class pasties… and some of the most amazing climbing in the UK too! Plenty of climbing to keep any climber interested but if you fancy a day off climbing some members go out for a surf or other coast sports.

The Crags

It’s absolutely gorgeous granite – oftentimes a lot more solid than the usual Swanage! There’s a wide range of grades, both overlooking the sea and a few inland.

Cornwall hosts a huge variety of grades with some of the most iconic ranging from Diff up into the E grades. Such as Commando Ridge, Bosigran, Sennen, Right Angle just to name drop a few. We are spoilt for choice in the area, for all levels of experience and skill. If you would like to have a look at the range of climbing available, please take a look at the UKC website.

The Club library has a small selection of Guidebooks available for loan here:

Being Mindful

For those new to outdoor climbing – We are given access to many crags by land owners, and are expected to treat the land with respect. Please be mindful of any litter (you will see many of us picking up and taking litter home, to help keep the area clear).  There are no toilets once we are at the crag so please be prepared for this.

Although it is planned for a week away, many people may not be able to stay for the whole week and weekends due to other commitments and go for a shorter time. So do not worry if you can only come for some of it! Due to this reason we have decided for members to book individually so you only pay for the days you need.

Trevaylor has a range of pitches suitable for tents, campervans and vans with electric or non electric pitches. You can book online here.

Note: Book this early! This campsite will sell out at this time of year very soon!!

If Trevaylor has sold out members have stayed at these campsites before:

Kelynack Campsite, YHA Lands End, St Just RFC campsite, The Old Coastguards Campsite, Roseland Caravan and Camping.

Kit – where possible please bring your own equipment

Climbing shoes,
Climbing harness,
Climbing rope,
Trad rack… including:

Layers – being quite exposed to the wind it might get chilly
Waterproof – just in case it rains
Sun cream – just in case it’s sunny
Sturdy pair of walking/approach shoes
Personal first aid kit

It can get very hot in Cornwall at this time of year so bring light layers and plenty of sun protection and water!

The club has some kit that is available – see the gear page for more information.

Cornwall is easily accessible by car and please consider car sharing to reduce our impact on the environment. There is also a train station in Penzance.

Please note: booking will close 24 hours before the meet is due to begin to allow for completion of the risk assessment. Please sign up on the website to allow us an idea of numbers and get emergency contact details of participants.
