Where

Runnage Camping Barns
Runnage Farm, Postbridge, Devon, PL206TN

Event Type

Saddle up and experience the frontier feel of dartmoor.  Loads of climbing just waiting to be discovered!

The climbing:
Trad climbing on granite. Massive Tors on moorland and climbing through and above woodland canopies are the order of the weekend.

Accommodation:
Camping barn. Please bring your mat, sleeping bag and pillow. Price is £15 per person for both nights. Should the barn fill up the campsite is available (£5pppn) by calling 01822 880222.

A note on food:
Since this is a barn meet and space is limited we advocate cooking as a group.
By division of labour we will cook an evening meal on Friday and Saturday and a porridge breakfast for Saturday and Sunday.
Cooking in a group is cost effective, social, and efficient (less time in kitchen) and we would envisage cooking simple but tasty vegetarian meals for all that wish to participate.
Shopping will be done in advance (2 cars to split load) on the way up (e.g. at Winchester ASDA or Tesco) and we settle up at the end of the trip. We will aim to keep the costs low, but will make sure the meals are of good quality.

Lastly the club has several good cooks! so its a pretty safe bet the food will be good!!

Guests:
Guests (inc u18’s) are welcome to come if accompanied by a responsible member. Please note however that spaces in the camping barn will be prioritised for members should this meet become oversubscribed. If you wish to bring guests please could you speak to us first and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Beginner climbers:
This is not a beginner’s meet i.e. there will be no formal instruction/tuition. If you do wish to come and learn then please buddy up in advance with an experienced club member so you can climb together. For other beginners, please note that while we will make every effort to set up a top rope or two there is no guarantee. If you ask nicely, there will be the opportunity to second routes.

Driving:
Works out to ~£10 per person based on 4 sharing a car (50mpg, return trip inc drives to crags, £1.36per litre). Driver’s discretion.
