Our annual beginners meet is coming soon… come along and sample some of the best Sport climbing the Jurassic Coast has to offer! With a host of climbing spanning all of the grades we won’t be short of some crimps to crush!
This meet is available for all, but is aimed particularly at those new to outdoor climbing. We have arranged the meet to run shortly after the Cleaning Sport Anchors training taking place on 17th March, please book if you have not already to learn (or refresh) your skills! If this is your first outdoor meet or if you’re worried about making your first moves on real rock, our committee will happily answer any questions you may have (Contact Us).
For the more seasoned climbers in the club, any support with new members would be greatly appreciated!!
Location & Travel
TBC nearer the event based on weather, but we will likely venture to Portland, or possibly Winspit. (This event page will be kept up to date when a location is decided)
A facebook group will be created nearer the time to arrange travel, we would encourage car sharing where possible to limit the environmental impact as well as the impact on local residents.
For those new to outdoor climbing – We are given access to many crags by land owners, and are expected to treat the land with respect. Please be mindful of any litter (you will see many of us picking up and taking litter home, to help keep the area clear). There are no toilets once we are at the crag so please be prepared for this.
We will be climbing on bolts & anchors generously maintained by volunteers from the Dorset Bolt Fund (click to donate). Although there is no direct cost to booking onto this meet, we would like to encourage all bookees to make a suggested donation of £2 (or more!).
Minimum kit required:
- Climbing shoes
- Lunch & Water
- Warm clothes
If you are lacking any of the above, please get in touch and we will see if there is spare club kit available for you to borrow. If you have more kit such as single ropes and are happy to help on the day, please do! Would be great if we can to get some ropes set up and we need people to help do this.
Lunch is not provided on this meet, you will likely be a reasonable walk & a short drive from the nearest shops so please plan food & water accordingly.
