Come and enjoy some sport (or trad) on the jurassic coast. This day meet is open to all. If you have never been outdoor before and want to give it a try, this is a great time to come, we will be happy to show you the ropes.
Equally, there are tonnes of routes for more experienced climbers in this beautiful climbing haven.
We are heading to Swanage. The exact crag may be effected by the wind, though it is likely to be Windspit.
Meeting
There will be a walk in to the crag, so we will all meet up at the car park first and walk in together. (probably 10am – exact details TBC and sent round to those that sign up below)
The Windspit car park is next to a rather special pub which will be ideal for post climb drinks for those that fancy it. The car park does take coins – please bring some with you.
Travel
We will set up a facebook event for this meet . Please use this to coordinate car/van/magic carpet sharing.
The climbing
Swanage has quite a range of sport and trad. We will be geared up to help introduce people to sport, there may also be the opportunity to try some trad – best to chat in the facebook group to express an interest so that we know if you want to try trad.
Being Mindful
For those new to outdoor climbing – We are given access to many crags by land owners, and are expected to treat the land with respect. Please be mindful of any litter (you will see many of us picking up and taking litter home, to help keep the area clear). There are no toilets once we are at the crag so please be prepared for this.
Costs
Though there is no direct cost associated with this meet, we will be using bolts inserted and cared for by the Dorset Bolt Fund. As such we would like to show an appreciation for their fantastic voluntary work that allows us to sport climb safely in the area. The £2 donation goes entirely to them, to help them with continuing to look after the routes.
Kit
Minimum needed:
- Harness
- Helmet
- Climbing shoes
- lunch and water
- warm clothes
If you are missing any of the above, please get in touch and we will see if there is spare club kit available for you to borrow.
If you have more kit such as single ropes and are happy to help on the day, please do! Would be great if we can to get some ropes set up and we need people to help do this.
