Warning: Ash dieback is sadly affecting some of the trees, including some that have previously been relied upon for runners, anchors and lower-offs. Care must be taken. Fixed abseil descents are available from all popular areas.
All of the climbing at Fairy Cave is trad – with a variety of interesting routes ranging across the grades from VD up to E6. Please see UKC for more details.
Suitability
All are welcome. Some experience with Trad climbing is preferable, however there are opportunities for climbers new to Trad to second. Please contact the organiser with any questions.
Travel
Fairy Cave Quarry is approximately 1h30m drive from Southampton. Parking nearby can be somewhat limited as Limekiln Lane is narrow with a handful of wider spots for parking. Please car share and park responsibly – trucks and tractors use this road. If no roadside parking is available, please park down the hill and walk back up to the quarry entrance. Due to the limited parking numbers on this meet have been kept to 14.
Please use the Discord channel and/or the Facebook group to organise lifts to reduce the number of cars travelling.
Access
The BMC has negotiated use of the quarry and access is gained via a locked gate. The code for the gate can be found on the BMC Regional Access Database and will be shared before the meet.
