We are staying at the Anabasis Hut in Snowdonia, Just by Capel Curig . It is a classic hut within a farm, with 3 bunk rooms, kitchen/dining area. There is also access to a washroom. To find out more about the hut, visit their site: http://www.anabasismountaineering.org.uk/hut.html

Guide Books

There are a number of guide books for the area, the Rockfax one is fairly popular and has a range of crags to choose from.

Environmental Considerations

The Crags in Snowdonia vary greatly in their from the woodlands around Tremadog, to the weather beaten, Llanberis pass where trees are almost non-existant. Across the region centuries of felling for timber and heavy grazing have left their mark on the landscape, and efforts are now being made to help it regenerate. The climbing community has worked with local groups to help remove non-native trees and ivy as well as litter at Tremadog. We can help by taking litter home (even if it’s not ours), taking care not to damage trees when setting up abseils, keeping to established paths, and avoiding the removal of vegetation including moss and lichen. Temporary or permanent restrictions may also be in place to protect nesting birds or rare fauna, these are all published on the BMC regional access database.

Equipment

Please bring all your regular climbing gear such as ropes, helmet etc… You will also need your own bedding for the hut as well and LOTS of warm clothing and layers for being outside.

Food

There will be a group meal on the Saturday night at the hut (included in the cost) volunteer kitchen assistants always welcomed! There will also be the club breakfast stash available in the mornings (porridge with all sorts of sugary things to add)
