First Aid is one of those skills we all hope we never need, but are glad we have it when the need arises. In remote areas where access is difficult help can take a very long time to arrive, so being able to help people and keep them safe in the mean time is very important.

COURSE DETAILS:

This course is a Level 3 One Day Outdoor First Aid Course being delivered over two evenings – 14th June and 21st June, both days will run from 18:00 – 21:30 and you must be available for both dates to complete the course. The course will be delivered by Ellis Brand who is a highly qualified outdoors instructor and founder of an outdoors company The Adventure Brand. The cost is £80 and it will take place at the University of Southampton, Physics and Astronomy Building 46 in the 5th Floor Seminar room. (There is parking both in front and behind the building, see map below). There are 12 spaces available and bookings will close on 31st May.

The focus will be on common emergencies faced as a first aider and considerations relevant to the climbing environment. Topics covered will include:
Primary and secondary surveys
CPR
Chocking
Fractures and sprains
Spinal injuries
Bleeding
Burns
And some major illnesses
