Pembroke – Sea Cliffs and Camping at St Davids
We are venturing out to the exposed cliffs of South Wales – trad experience needed for this trip – will include abseiling and the ability to get yourself out and off a sea cliff.
The climbing
Hard-sand-stone, at least harder than the rock in font. Grippy climbing in a picturesque setting. All trad, mainly slabs and a range of grades. There are many smallish crags scattered along the coast to explore.
This is sea cliff trad so much of it is committing and involves abseiling. If you are unsure if this is for you, or if you aren’t experienced at sea-cliff trad, please have a look at the guide books and ask the meet secs (or other experienced members) to find if there is a crag that suits your experience. There are some more accessible areas, so the options are there if you plan for them – please don’t take the commitment to sea cliff trad lightly if you do not have the experience – if unsure, ask.
And remember to check tide levels before you choose your crag!
Also, if you have an ab role please bring it!
Other things to do
There is lots going on in the area, including accessible beeches, surfing and kayaking.
Accommodation
We are staying just above the coast, walking distance from many slabs.
