Sport climbing day meet! With optional campsite-social on Saturday night.
Now that the weather has finally cooled down we’re making a last-minute dash to the sport crags of Portland for some bolt-clipping.
Venue
Portland. This is a great place for sport climbing with a wide variety of cliffs facing both east and west. It’s all limestone, and varies from technical crimping to overhanging thuggery. But there’s something for everyone, at every grade.
We will confirm the specific crag, and parking location, by Saturday 20th August.
Suitability
Summary: Open to all
This is a good meet for beginners to come on. If we end up with very few leaders and/or experienced climbers then we will put up some topropes (without affecting other visitors to the crag), but there should be something for everyone.
There will be lead routes suitable for all if you can lead any grade of sport – but if this is something you’re new to then this is a good meet to come on!
If you’re signed up for the awesome Costa Blanca meet in October then this is a chance to practice bolt-clipping closer to home and meet some of the folks you’ll be on holiday with.
Meet Info
Meet lead: Mary Slingo
Accommodation (optional)
This is a day meet on Sunday, but some of us will be in the area already and are going to camp overnight on Saturday here:
https://www.pitchup.com/
This is a simple campsite with good facilities and hot showers and great reviews. Each pitch (one tent) can be shared by up to 4 people making it very good value. If you fancy coming down the night before the meet it’d be fun to catch up over a beer or two!
If you do want to stay, please contact the campsite to book your own camping.
