We are heading to Portland! The exact crag may be effected by the weather on the day, but the final decision will be made at least two days before. Check here or on the Facebook event page for the latest details.
This day meet is open to all, though not specifically aimed at beginners. If you are a beginner, don’t let that put you off. Get in touch via the Facebook event page, as I’m sure there will be many people who will be happy for you to climb with them.
Although this is a free event, please do sign up below to let us know you’re coming. It really helps us organise the day and future events.
There will be a walk in to the crag, so we will all meet up at the designated car park first and walk in together. Usually 10am (exact details TBC and sent round to those that sign up below)
We will set up a Facebook event for this meet . Please use this to coordinate car/van/magic carpet sharing.
Portland is THE destination on the south coast for sport climbing. There is a plethora of crags and grades from easy to super hard to get stuck in to!
For those new to outdoor climbing – We are given access to many crags by land owners, and are expected to treat the land with respect. Please be mindful of any litter (you will see many of us picking up and taking litter home, to help keep the area clear). There are no toilets once we are at the crag so please be prepared for this.
Though there is no direct cost associated with this meet, we will be using bolts placed and maintained for by the Dorset Bolt Fund. As such we would like to show an appreciation for their fantastic voluntary work that allows us to sport climb safely in the area. The £2 donation goes entirely to them, to help them with continuing to look after the routes.
- Climbing shoes
- lunch and water
- warm clothes
If you are missing any of the above, please get in touch and we will see if there is spare club kit available for you to borrow.
If you have more kit such as single ropes and are happy to help on the day, please do! Would be great if we can to get some ropes set up and we need people to help do this.
