We are very excited to announce our first trip to the Peak District this year – it has been too long! Fantastic climbing in the epic setting of the Roaches – seeing is believing!
Accommodation
We will be staying at a newly opened campsite 2 miles outside of Leek and very close to the crag, Brooklyn Grange Farm , a short walk to the local pub and other amenities in the local village. There is even a farm shop onsite!
We have booked 5 pitches for 10 people – this is flexible, so if you are joining us please 1) book soon to avoid disappointment and 2) let us know in the facebook event or by email what your pitch preference is (i.e. one person in a tent, or sharing with others). Please note that everyone needs to book individually onto the meet, irrespective of whether you are sharing a tent or not.
Climbing
Magnificent imposing buttresses of superb natural grit up to 30m high. Shaded in summer, but slow to dry and green early in the year. ‘Must do’ routes include Inverted Staircase (Diff), the astounding Valkrie (VS 4c), the delectable Elegy (E2 5c) and the immaculate The Swan (E3 5c). There is a grade to suit every climber!
Some of the best bouldering on grit can also be found both in the woods and on the spring boulders
The area faces southwest receiving the sun from mid-morning. It is often beautiful in late-afternoon sunshine. It catches the wind and dries quickly after rain but offers little shelter from bad weather. Most of the rock is clean although some north-facing sections can be green.

This meet is open to climbers of all abilities. If you are completely new to outdoors climbing, please get in touch via the facebook event or by email to make sure there are enough competent climbers available to help out.
