Event Type

You have started leading but soon found your limit. Maybe you get tired much quicker than on a top rope.  Or maybe you don’t like climbing above the bolt and the fear stops you from going for moves you are certain you would make on a top rope. You find you don’t climb even close to the grade you know you can. You want to climb outside, but are worried it would be even harder there. Maybe you have been lead climbing for years, but you find that you lack confidence and that your head often gets the better of you.

Pembrokeshire - Stennis Head - Riders on the Storm

Luke is a lead climbing wall instructor at Calshot activity centre passionate about teaching people how to climb, and more importantly, how to climb well. He designed a three week workshop for developing climbers who are new to leading and who want to become more confident in their abilities. He will help you with your head game, with your fear of falling, improve your technique and efficiency of your leading and ultimately give you the confidence to be the climber you aspire to be, whether that is Shauna, Janja, Ondra or Megos. Ok, ok, maybe you need to take the Advanced workshop to get you that far.

Prerequisite skills: There is no requirement to climb at any particular grade for this workshop, but you should already know the basics of lead climbing and belaying. It also doesn’t matter how much experience you have – if you feel something is limiting your climbing, this is the workshop for you.

Equipment: Climbing shoes, harness, belay device and a rope if you have one

This workshop will be held on three consecutive Wednesdays at Calshot Activity Centre on Wednesday evenings and costs £44 for the whole course. You will also have to pay Calshot entry fee of £9.50 for SCC members separately on each Wednesday. You must be able to attend all three sessions to get most of out it.

IMPORTANT: We reserve the right to cancel the course if the spaces don’t fill – the club can’t afford to make a loss on training. BOOKINGS CLOSE ON 31ST JANUARY!
