You have started to find your confidence, but feel there is more to work on. Maybe you have attended Luke’s first three week course and learned some techniques and tricks, but are keen to learn and practice more? Maybe you missed out on a spot but wish you could attend?
In part 2 of climbing confidence workshop Luke will aim to move the group on to face harder challenges in a manageable way, but because climbers will work in pairs, it is possible to adjust to everyone’s confidence level and ability. This means that part 1 is not a prerequisite and anyone can sign up. If you are still unsure whether to attend, feel free to post a message on Facebook or contact the club via email and we can put you in touch with Luke to have a chat on what you want to get out of the course.
Luke is a lead climbing wall instructor at Calshot activity centre passionate about teaching people how to climb, and more importantly, how to climb well. He designed a this workshop for developing climbers who are feel something is holding them back when leading and who want to become more confident in their abilities. He will help you with your head game, with your fear of falling, improve your technique and efficiency of your leading and ultimately give you the confidence to be the climber you aspire to be, whether that is Shauna, Janja, Ondra or Megos. This is the part 2 of the workshop, so there may well be SCC climbers in the next Olympics!
Prerequisite skills: There is no requirement to climb at any particular grade for this workshop, but you should already know the basics of lead climbing and belaying. It also doesn’t matter how much experience you have – if you feel something is limiting your climbing, this is the workshop for you.
Equipment: Climbing shoes, harness, belay device and a rope if you have one
This workshop will be held on three consecutive Wednesdays at Calshot Activity Centre on Wednesday evenings and costs £30 for the whole course. You will also have to pay Calshot entry fee of £8.50 for SCC members separately on each Wednesday. You must be able to attend all three sessions to get most of out it.
