If you have done some top roping and feel ready to take the next step, you may want to look into learning to lead routes. It may feel more scary and it is certainly more involved, so good skills are essential.
Luke is a lead climbing wall instructor at Calshot activity centre passionate about teaching people how to climb, and more importantly, how to climb well. In this course you’ll learn how to safely and confidently lead climb and belay indoors, enabling you to improve your climbing skills and eventually head for the outdoors.
- Principles of lead climbing and equipment used
- Clipping safely
- The art of great lead belaying
- Body positioning and efficient climbing
- Developing your overall climbing technique
Prerequisite skills: Competent at top rope belaying & tying in.
Equipment: you will need to bring a harness and belay device, if you don’t have one please let us know
The price of the training is £20. Be aware that this workshop will be held at Calshot Activity Centre so you will also have to pay Calshot entry fee (discounted for SCC members) separately.
