Training: Learn to trad climb – North Wales meet
This training is happening at the North Wales meet over the May Bank Holiday Weekend. Do not sign up to the training unless you have a space on the meet
Late May Bank Holiday 2025 – North Wales – Southampton Climbing Club
Prerequisite skills: During this day course, you will learn the fundamentals of traditional climbing. This is ideal for anyone who has yet to start trad climbing or for those who have just started and looking for professional instruction on what they’re doing. But you need to be competent top rope and lead belayer in an indoor environment prior to this course.
Location: North Wales – crag to be determined closer to the date.
Equipment:
Essential:
- Climbing stuff – Harness, rock shoes, belay device, helmet, prussik, sling and carabiner
- Clothing – Layers – it can be windy and be sure to check the forecast to see what is needed
- Weather gear – Waterproofs and a good pair of boots or shoes. Suncream
- Food – Something for at least breakfast as well as food and snacks for the hill / whilst out at the crag
- Water bottle – at least one for use when out and about
Desirable (bring if you have these):
- Trad rack, half ropes, single rope
About your instructor: Luke is a qualified RCDI (Rock Climbing Development Instructor), CWDI (Climbing Wall Development Instructor), he is also ML (Mountain Leader) and MCI (Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor) trainee.
