Training: Physical training for climbing
You want to get strong to send your project or even just learn some exercises you can practice next time at the wall? Or maybe you want to replace the Christmas bulge with some January muscle?
This course is aimed at getting physical!
Over a 3-week period, we’ll be looking at high quality warm-ups, endurance training,
power endurance exercises and techniques you can apply towards getting stronger at climbing.
Luke is a lead climbing wall instructor at Calshot activity centre passionate about teaching people how to climb, and more importantly, how to climb well. Sometimes that involves getting stronger or working on your endurance, and this three week workshop is aimed to help you with that. Maybe you won’t quite have the Popeye forearms by the end of it, but you will know how to work on it.
Prerequisite skills: You should be able to lead climb at grade 4 indoors.
Equipment: Climbing shoes, harness, belay device and a rope if you have one
This workshop will be held on three consecutive Wednesdays at Calshot Activity Centre on Wednesday evenings and costs £30 for the whole course. You will also have to pay Calshot entry fee of £8.50 for SCC members separately on each Wednesday. You must be able to attend all three sessions to get most of out it.
