Western Peaks Meet
This year we’re making a long-awaited return to the Western Peak, within throwing distance of some of the most historic & iconic climbs Britain has to offer! If you have not experienced the famous gritstone, now is your chance…
Climbing
The campsite is a 20min walk to the Roaches, with some of the most famous routes the Peaks has to offer (or an 8min drive to the parking), as well as Hen Cloud with the longest routes in the area. Alternatively, Ramshaw Rocks is a 15 minute walk from the site so there should be more than enough locally spanning the grades to keep us occupied.
Although this is a trad meet, there should be some very amenable climbing to second here so please let us know if you are interested!
Those who wish to look up the area, take a look at the club’s copy of Western Grit in the library at Boulder Shack.
Accomodation
We will be staying at the Hazel Barrow Farm for the first time, which I am reliably informed has the luxury of hot showers. If we manage to fill the booking we may be able to negotiate more pitches assuming we are happy to huddle together a little more than usual!
Booking Information – IMPORTANT, read carefully!!!
We have 13 camping pitches available to us, which of course can mean more than 13 people depending on who is sharing tents.
When you come to book you will see there is an option for ‘Peaks Meet Pitch’ – this is for booking the camping pitch for those actually taking tents. Please only use ‘Peaks Meet Extra Person’ if you are staying in someone elses tent.
The booking is for Friday to Sunday. Those who wish to travel up on the Thursday, there are some pitches available, please contact the site directly at:
hazelbarrowfarm@gmail.com
Equipment required
You should be looking to take/borrow/share the following:
- Camping equipment
- Climbing gear – harness, helmet, shoes are essential, plus trad rack & ropes if you have them. The club has a limited supply of gear available for members to borrow here, please request in advance!
- Walking kit
- Personal first aid kit
- Personal food & drink
Food & drink
Club food is not provided on this meet so please plan accordingly, although it is not unlikely that the Roaches Tearoom will receive our custom at some point!
Travel
As always we encourage car sharing as much as possible for this meet. We will arrange a facebook group (and emails for those without) to try and facilitate this.
If you have any questions about this meet please let us know, otherwise, enjoy the grit!!!
