This bank holiday we are heading up north to the Yorkshire dales to explore Yorkshire rock.
There is quite an extensive range of options within short driving distance – trad, sport (including single and multi pitch) and bouldering. A combination of limestone and grit in a beautiful area.
There are 3 guide books for the area in the library if you want to have a look at what is there.
- Northern England (Yorkshire Gritstone section) – trad and bouldering
- Northern Limestone (Yorkshire section) – for sport and trad
- Yorkshire and the Peak District (Malham Cove Area) – mainly for some fun old-style symbol deciphering to find routes.
This is a camping meet and we are staying at Breaks Fold Farm in the south of the Dales.
They have basic facilities including showers and washing up. They also have a strict quiet after 10pm policy (sorry guys, it’s a bank holiday and most places are booked up – but it looks really nice!) There is a pub 5 mins drive away if that helps at all.
IMPORTANT NOTE: We have initially reserved 8 spaces which have been taken up by members. However if you want to come, please book directly with the campsite (using above link and mention in the notes you are part of the SCC group). Please add your name to the free ticket at the bottom so we know you are coming.
What to Bring
This is a camping meet so appropriate sleeping bags tents etc… And what ever climbing kit you have for what you want to do!
