Training: Learn sport climbing, Portland/Swanage
Summer is on it’s way, so it is time to take your climbing outdoors! If you’ve never clipped a bolt on real rock, then this is the training for you. The Jurassic coast offers a variety of sport (bolted) climbs for complete newbies up to the most experienced of climbers, so this will be a great introduction to the area.
This training event is intended for climbers looking into learning sport climbing.
Course content includes:
- Principles of sport climbing and the equipment used
- How to place the quickdraws and assess the quality of the bolts
- Guidebook use and route selection
There are only 2 spaces available, so don’t hesitate. The price of the training is £100/person.
Prerequisite skills: During this day course, you will learn the fundamentals of sport climbing outdoor. You are expected to be a competent top rope and lead belayer in an indoor environment prior to this course.
Location: Portland/Swanage to be confirmed.
Equipment: helmet, harness, belay device, comfy climbing shoes, lunch and drink, you are welcome to bring your own quickdraws. Equipment can be provided if needed.
About your instructor: Luke is a qualified RCDI (Rock Climbing Development Instructor), CWDI (Climbing Wall Development Instructor), he is also ML (Mountain Leader) and MCI (Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor) trainee.
